At St Joseph's the classroom teachers consult and work collaboratively with the Support Teacher, specialist personnel and parents.  Classroom programs are modified to identify appropriate resources needed to create learning and social opportunities for students with special education needs.

Our focus for Learning Support in partnership with the State Action Plan at St Joseph's is on early intervention and detection of difficulties with learning.  Our students' progress is monitored and assessed regularly.  If any student needs assistance with their learning they are provided with the necessary support programs in class and parents are given assistance to help the children at home.

Children with specific learning problems have the school programme adjusted or modified according to their needs.

The focus of our Learning Support Programme is to respect the dignity of each child and to give them every opportunity and support to reach their full potential.  We believe every child can learn.
